Subject to final approval for funding, we are looking for a computational microbiome microbiologist to join the ERA CoBioTech project "SYNBIOGAS - Synthetic landfill microbiomes for enhanced anaerobic digestion to biogas" with partners in UK and France.

Subject: Metabolic network modelling and in silico optimisation of microbiomes
working time 65% (25,35 hours per week), limited to 3 years
Metabolic network modelling and analysis of landfill microbiomes in close cooperation with experimental partners Reconstruction of genome-scale metabolic network models Design and in silico optimisation of synthetic communities Design and implementation of computational pipelinesSupervision of master students
Applicants must hold a Master in (bio-)informatics/mathematics, biochemistry, systems biology, systems sciences, or a related field Profound knowledge of prokaryotic metabolic pathways and OMICS data sets; knowledge on anaerobic digestion biochemistry is a plusExcellent programming skills (e.g., R, Python, Matlab, BASH, Java, C/C++)The ideal candidate has experience in flux-based metabolic network modelling and corresponding tools (e.g., Pathway Tools, KBase, COBRA Toolbox, Cell Net Analyzer) as well as biochemical databases including programmatic access; wet-lab experience is a plus Ability to communicate in English in an interdisciplinary & international team Willingness for short research stays in England and France
